How To Use Microsoft Access 2010 – Introduction and Basics

In this article we will talk about the basics of database and we will also talk about the basics of Microsoft Access. This article is for complete beginners, we will start from the very top, so that you will understand fully the purpose of database and how will Microsoft Access help you create database for you company or site.  I will try to make it simple and easy to understand. Anyway, the things that I'm about to share is based from research and my notes when I was still studying, and I would like to share it you because I know exactly how you feel, I know that studying how database works is pretty hard, especially if you don't have any background about computer programming and stuff.

Before we proceed to Microsoft Access, let me give you a short introduction about database, to avoid confusion. Database is like a glossary or a directory, this is the place where you will find all the information used by the program, project or company. For example: Online dictionaries, you will search a word and when you click on "Search" the system will search the word and get the meaning of that word from the database. Their function is just like a dictionary, you need to put everything there organized and neat.

Now that you know something about database I think that is enough to give you an idea how it works, time to proceed to the next topic. Microsoft Access 2010 is an application established by Microsoft Inc. This application was created to make databases faster and easier, even complete beginners can make their own database because of this application. Microsoft made this application easy to navigate and understand. Besides that you can also use Microsoft Access for managing personal information or small business data.

Microsoft Access has GUI or Graphical User Interface which makes this application user friendly because it has pictures or icons and labels, and you don't even have to memorize nor type complicated tags or commands. If you know how to use Microsoft Word then I am pretty sure that you can easily figure out how to use Microsoft Access. All you have do to is click and type the details or the information that you want to include in your database. Sounds pretty easy right? You don't have to study complicated programming languages and other complicated software, but if you are an information technology student or if you are studying computer related courses then you are required to study these things.
