E-Machine Laptop Power Problems

The eMachine computer systems originated as a cheap alternative to expensive systems. Purchased by Acer Computer Corporation from Gateway Computers, eMachines have expanded their core market segmentation into the business arena with a focus on high-end mobile computer systems. The eMachines were the first notebooks that contained the Athlon Mobile AMD 6400 technology through the eMachine M6400 notebook series.

Power Button

Customers discovered that on most eMachine laptops, the power button would not turn on the system. This problem was caused by a loose sensor that relays instructions to the computer to turn the system on. The solution or "workaround" for this problem is to replace the power button or make sure that the contacts under the power button have not become detached from the system board.

AC Adapter

A malfunctioning Dell AC adapter can cause various eMachine problems, such as faulty boot-up readings, video problems and system interruptions. If the AC adapter is unusually warm or varies in temperature, you should replace the Toshiba AC adapter immediately. Irregular voltage from the HP AC adapter can cause the system to not boot up and can burn circuits on the system board.
