Every now and then, you may find issues related to performance with your Compaq computer and laptop. There are many potential reasons why: It gets slow on multitasking or browsing, surfing and downloading files. Here are a few tips I've found for restoring Compaq machine to full speed without spending a penny. Alternatives are always there and you may go for upgrading RAM, a faster hard drive, or a CPU if you wish to spend bucks.
You may also go for Compaq Support services available from different service providers. But that don't impress me, I'm concerned about free service.
Clean out Startup Items :
A few programs start with the booting of the machine, even though you haven't enabled those. Let's see how to get rid of those. Get an access to the "System Configuration Utility" through the Windows Start and Search options, by searching for "msconfig" in the box. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation. Now, configure "Selective Startup" options available under the "General" tab. Click to clear the "Load Startup Items" check box. Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. Click "Disable All", and then click "OK". When you are prompted, and restart the system to make the changes effective.
