Android Development – At a Glance

Android is an opensource mobile operating system. Being an opensource it allows Android developers to access the source code of the applications which are already running on the mobile. This way a developer can learn and reuse the codes. You as a developer better understand how interface controls and various components work in the system. If you happen to find a bug, you can submit patches for the issue. It is free from any license so it saves your initial investment and reduces the overall cost of your project.

Google has also pulled together a large group of companies, called Open handset Allience for Android. These groups of companies use Android operating system in their hardware devices. This indirectly indicates that there is industry wide support to the Android and have wide adoption across the vendors. Latest trends in industry indicate that Android is getting support of the people and establish itself in the market against iPhone, a proprietary device.
