After all, all of us rely on it to get our work done while we are traveling or when we are not able to connect the laptop to an AC outlet. You may not be aware of this, but it's true that your laptop's LCD consumes a lot of power than you had imagined before. Therefore, it makes sense to set the brightness level of your LCD to a minimum level that is comfortable to your eyes. This way you can save lot's of charge that is present in your laptop battery. Use optical drives only when required. The optical drives present in your laptop uses a lot of power for spinning DVDs and CDs. Even when these drives are free they consume a lot of power. Therefore, when you don't intend to use them for your purpose, it is better to disconnect the media.
