Configuring a Cisco router should typically not be any harder than configuring a standard router but before you get started there are a few points that you will need to take into account. Let's take a look at a few of those points and soon enough you'll be ready to set up your own Cisco router. Keep in mind that the following points need to be configured and set up before you actually connect your router to the network. You could of course set it up on the fly, but your network would be down until you configured the router properly and in a corporate environment this is far from acceptable.
Security: Your router needs to be secure for a few reasons. First of all you are using an industrial router, and if you are on a campus there is a strong chance you've modified the wireless signal to reach every corner of the grounds and beyond. With that being the case, anyone can access your router, and the last thing you want is someone surfing the internet from the side of the road.
